At Transfer Galaxy, we are trying to make the world a little bit fairer. One step at a time. We are democratizing international payments by making remittances cheaper, safer and smarter.
It all started out of frustration in the queue of the local Western Union agent. The queue was long, the fees were high and the flexibility was non-existent. A group of friends lamented.
Some people lament over problems; others try to find solutions. The friends saw an opportunity, and soon thereafter Transfer Galaxy was born.
Today, we are still a company full of problem solvers. We use technology to solve problems. With the help of this technology, we can transfer monies to the other side of the world within seconds. Straight to a mobile wallet.
From Stockholm to Mogadishu. From London to Accra. From Berlin to Beirut. It doesn’t matter where in the world you are.
We are making remittances as they should be. For immigrants. By immigrants.
We believe that sending money abroad should be as easy as sending nationally. We work towards that goal every day. This is our story:
The founders grew tired of queuing at the local Western Union agent. With a firm belief that remittances could be digitalized they founded Transfer Galaxy.
Spending nights and weekends, the founders developed the Transfer Galaxy platform parallel to their full-time jobs.
Transfer Galaxy launches its service and it immediately gains traction. At the 2016 Business Challenge Gala, it wins the Best Company award.
With the success, the founders finally get the possibility to start working full-time. In May 2017, the company becomes an authorised Payment Institution.
Four years after its birth, the company announces it received $3.7M growth funding from VC firms BackingMinds and Alfvén & Didrikson.
Transfer Galaxy introduces several new recipient countries in the Middle East. Launches new brand and celebrates 1 billion SEK transferred through the platform.
Transfer Galaxy opens up a German office to fuel growth outside of Nordics. The company grows the team to >60 employees and breaks the milestone of 3 billion SEK sent.
Transfer Galaxy supports many people sending digital transfers to their loved ones, adding Thailand as a new recipient country. The team grows to >80 staff with around 20 different nationalities, and celebrates the milestone of 5 billion SEK in transfers.
